Satan is running scared. He’s almost out of time and is fighting with everything he’s got and his primary weapon is to get you to take offense. It’s all around us. We don’t even have to search for it. The second you open your eyes or ears you hear criticism about someone or something. It doesn’t take much. It doesn’t even have to be something someone does, it can be as little as a piece of clothing or the way someone looks and if you’re not careful you will get caught up in it.
In Matthew 24:10 Jesus warns us that in the last days many will be offended. The scriptures are full of warnings that we must be very careful to avoid becoming offended and even greater warnings for those who cause offenses.
Right now there is something in your life that is pushing you to become offended, pushing you to criticize something or someone that is getting you on edge, pushing you over the edge. You need to wake up to what is happening around you. It is not you. It is not them. It is the enemy pushing you into any form of offense possible. But the only thing that can protect you from these attacks is LOVE. Psalms 119:165 says it better than any other scripture I know: “Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.”
Love is the only power that overcomes this attack from the enemy. Those without a relationship with Jesus have no choice; they don’t know love, because Jesus is LOVE and therefore are at the whim of the enemy to push them wherever he chooses. All they know is their own offenses and to them that it is common and normal. But if you know Jesus then you have the power to overcome offense because you know LOVE, which cast out all fear (1 John 4:18) because offense is a form torment.
Philippians 1:9-10 “And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment; That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.”
Matthew 5:44 tells us: “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you,” And in 1Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”
If you are being challenged to take offense, pause and look inward. Ask the Holy Spirit: “What would Jesus do in this situation?” These people don’t deserve an offensive response they need a response of love. Take the time to let the Holy Spirit lead you how to respond.
As we approach that day we so strongly desire, we must be strive to stand strong in our love toward all men. The world will know we are God’s children by our love. The world is falling apart on all sides, we must stand up now more than ever and seek to bless and walk in love toward everyone around us, even those who attack us and cause offense.
Now go forth and seek to be a blessing in your world and take no offense. They need it now more than ever.
Live in God’s Peace.
