Today I want to focus on one word of one verse in the Bible and discover how important that word is to understanding all Bible Prophecy.

Rev 19:10 KJV
And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

Rev 19:10b NLT
… For the essence of prophecy is to give a clear witness for Jesus. ”

Rev 19:10b AMP
… For the substance (essence) of the truth revealed by Jesus is the spirit of all prophecy [the vital breath, the inspiration of all inspired preaching and interpretation of the divine will and purpose, including both mine and yours].

Each of these translations use a different word for the same word in the Greek.  They all imply that the core, the center or the primary element of understanding Bible Prophecy is found in the testimony of Jesus, which is the book of Revelation (Rev 1:1, 2).  This means that until we understand the book of Revelation we are not going to truly understand Bible Prophecy.  It also means that the book of Revelation contains the key to understanding all prophecy throughout the Bible.

Today our culture has fractured and confused the meaning of the book of Prophecy to the point that we have different groups claiming different things about the book of Revelation.  The reason that has happened is because we have not obeyed the commandments of God and that has resulted in confusion over the book of Revelation.  When we bring our understanding into alignment with His commandments we can then discover the truth of the book of Revelation.  It is then that we discover the “essence” or “spirit” of the book of Revelation and when we do that all prophecy throughout the Bible also comes into alignment and easy to understand.

Eph. 4:13-15 tells us that Jesus will come when we have the true knowledge of the Son of God and are no longer deceived by the teachings and traditions of men and the only way to do that is to understand the testimony of Jesus.  This is why Jesus has brought The Final Restoration mentioned in Acts 3:21.  This is where we must begin our study of Bible Prophecy.

Meditate on these things and let the light of the word of God grow within you.

Live in God’s Peace!
