The Seven Seals – Seal Seven*

We have reached the end of the Seven Seals and with the Seventh Seal comes preparation for the Tribulation period.  This Seventh Seal is very important as it is giving mankind one more chance to repent.

Seal Seven – Preparing for the Tribulation

Event Sequence # 22, 23
Event Scriptures:
Revelation 8:1-5
Revelation 14:17-15:8

Silence in Heaven for a Half Hour

Revelation 8:1-5
1And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour. 2And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets. 3And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne. 4And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand. 5And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

Preparation for the Wrath of God

Revelation 14:17-15:8
17And another angel came out of the temple which is in heaven, he also having a sharp sickle. 18And another angel came out from the altar, which had power over fire; and cried with a loud cry to him that had the sharp sickle, saying, Thrust in thy sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are fully ripe. 19And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

Revelation 15

1And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God. 2And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God. 3And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. 4Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.

5And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened: 6And the seven angels came out of the temple, having the seven plagues, clothed in pure and white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles. 7And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever. 8And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

With the seventh seal comes preparation for the Tribulation.  This is going to be a time of judgment and wrath.  The seventh seal brings a 1/2-hour of silence (8:1).  The word used here implies a commanded hush, or to schussing one to silence.  Bringing everything to a time of silence to determine how the earth is going to respond to the events that just preceded it.  God silences those in heaven in an effort to strain, hopefully waiting and expecting that man will confess their sins and repent.  If not the judgment begins.

This little noticed verse about “silence in heaven for half an hour” is actually very important and pivotal to the events before and after it.  This silence was a short period of peace just before the Great Tribulation would begin.  The earth has just gone through a terrifying series of events in the sixth seal where many would believe and others thought the end of the world had come.  Millions had vanished and now there is a peace on the earth.  Will men realize what has just happened and change their ways?  There is a time of calm just long enough for people to begin to relax.  Thinking that worst is over and they can now get on with their lives.  They do not realize that this is the calm before the storm, they are in the eye of the hurricane and the worst has not even begun.

Man will view this as the end of their troubles and takes the silence as an opportunity to relax and take a breath from turbulence that has just occurred.  He thinks it is over and with those troubling Christians gone and the Jews under control and almost gone, man can now relax and live, as he desires.

This half hour is not literally a half hour but rather an indefinite period in which there is a pause a waiting until God determines that this time of silence has reached its fullness and is complete.

When man does not show any signs of repentance seven angels are given trumpets and prepares to sound (8:2).  An angel appears (8:3-5) holding a censer filled with fire and the prayers of the saints and casts it on the earth.

At the same time that the seven angels are preparing to sound, seven other angels are preparing for the bowls of God’s wrath (14:17).  The same angel who had just cast fire upon the earth (8:5) now calls out to the other angel (14:18) with the sickle to harvest the grapes of wrath.  The result of this ingathering of the grapes of wrath (14:19, 20) will bring completion to the rule of man.

The seven angels with the last plagues of the wrath of God prepare (15:1).  In heaven, we take a second look at those Raptured winning victory over the beast and purified by fire (15:2-4), rejoicing over the Lamb and the coming judgment.  The Earth had its opportunity and ignored it.  Now the judgment begins.

The tabernacle in heaven is open and the seven angels step out and given the Seven Bowls of Wrath (15:5-7).  The glory of God fills the temple preventing anyone from approaching until the judgments are complete (15:8).  No interruption, no prayers of intercession of any kind will be permitted to interfere with what is coming next.

The Bowls of Wrath are the plagues that God will send upon the earth during the Tribulation.  What the judgments of the Seven Trumpets bring, the Bowls of Wrath will make even worse.  Stand ready the Judgments of the Tribulation are about to begin.

The Tribulation is about begin, but before one can understand what each Trumpet and Bowl represents in its own context it is necessary to find the third witness to this testimony, which provides the key to understanding all the events of the Tribulation.  This is one of those things that was hidden by our traditions, because we didn’t know how to study the book of Revelation, we couldn’t find the third witness.  This third witness is found in the story of “The Mystery Babylon.”  That is also the reason why it was included in the linked passages of the Sixth Seal.  Because it part of the link events of the seals it is telling us that it contains valuable information that must be studied in conjunction with events happening during this period.  When our study resumes we will be taking a look at “The Mystery Babylon” story, which is much more than most have ever considered.

Live in God’s Peace!
